　　在本片身兼编导演三职的罗贝托·贝尼尼是意大利影坛著名的喜剧演员，他在本片发挥了高度创意，用妙想天开的方式将一种几乎已经拍烂的题材——纳粹迫害犹太人点石成金，颇有点卓别林喜剧的效果。这种处理彰显了意大利人开朗的民族性，并且用逗笑效果甚高的奇想将一个看似不可能发生的故事娓娓道来，使人在观赏时感到内心愉悦，看后亦深觉酸涩。其中，情节编排巧妙和主角个性鲜明居功至伟，贝尼尼和小童星的精彩演出亦处处见火花。贝尼尼因此片荣登奥斯卡影帝，它在世界各地也有极高的卖座。
